POV

[edit]

For such an important (and tragic) incident, this article is littered with POV and should be edited - also needs more sources for some of the more outlandish points. Whilst I understand the emotions that arise around such events, this is an encylopedia and not an Indian Nationalist school textbook. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 78.150.70.163 (talk) 22:12, 29 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

It is poorly sourced (both quantitatively and qualitatively: two web pages and two brief articles on social issues) to the point of endangering its credibility. The article on the Jallianwala Bagh massacre which occurred much earlier is amply documented with secondary research by scientists who seem to have at least consulted the military archives and the contemporary press.--158.169.150.10 (talk) 11:07, 12 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Yes it is unfortunate that a historic incident of this significance is undercut by the poor quality of the source references given and the emotive language used. The figure of 400 dead claimed contrasts markedly with the official figure of 20 given in official reports at the time. Of course the latter may have been deliberately falsified but available records indicate that this was a much smaller-scale incident than the well-known Amritsar Massacre of 1919 - where hundreds did die. I have tried to make some NPOV additions where reliable sources are available but this article does require more work. Buistr (talk) 20:19, 23 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]
